The Zanesville Police Department has qualified for the 2014 High Visibility Enforcement Overtime Grant from the state. If awarded, the police department would be able to use the funds for overtime on holiday’s and during dangerous traffic time periods throughout the year. The police department is expected to hear about the status of the grant by September.

In other council news, council also passed an ordinance at Monday’s meeting that will move the city to monthly water bills starting in August. Public Service Director, Mike Sims, has said one reason for the switch is to better serve people with fixed incomes.
