An influential local man is being remembered for his contributions to the community.

Bill Phillips passed away on Saturday at the age of 80. Phillips was the Chairman of Century National Bank’s Executive Committee up until his death. This year would’ve been his 50th year with the bank. Throughout his career he held both the title of President and Vice President of the bank. His friends and colleagues say his mark will never be forgotten.

"He has been our leader and mentor and friend for all those 50 years, not my personal friend for 50 but for 40 years and Bill provided the leadership, the direction and the enthusiasm that has allowed the bank to be very successful," said Chairman and Friend, Thomas Lyall.

People who have come in contact with Phillips say that his personality is what set him apart from the average man.

" He was a fun loving, always smiling guy that really enjoyed people and loved to tease people. If he wasn’t teasing you then you had a problem, " said Lyall.

William "Bill" Phillips will be greatly missed. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 3rd at 11 a.m. at Snouffer Funeral Home.
