The Ohio State Highway Patrol, and both Frazeysburg and Dresden Fire Departments responded to the scene of the accident around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. OSHP Sgt. Melanie Appleman says two ATV’s were traveling on Ashcraft Road when one stopped at the intersection on West Carlisle Road and the second ATV, carrying two people, failed to stop, crashing into the rear of the stopped ATV.

"The driver of the second ATV was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital," said Sgt. Appleman. "The second occupant was on the vehicle, it rolled over on top of him. He also was transported and we don’t have an update on their injuries at this time.".

Sgt. Appleman says ATV’s are not permitted to be on the roadways. She says no one was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and says the cause is still under investigation.

"We’re going to take a look at the vehicles, see if the brakes are connected, if they’re working, if there’s any marker lights, anything on this bike that would have indicated that he was coming to a stop or slowing to a stop. So we’re going to take a look at that and get statements from everyone and put together what exactly happened here."

The names and severity of the injuries are not being released at this time.
