Tuesday at the Ohio State Fairgrounds the famous butter cow and this year’s secret sculpture will be unveiled.

But, for the first time in decades the cow will have a new home. A new cooler has been installed inside the Dairy Products Building. Each year the American Dairy Association Mideast selects an icon or theme to feature in butter.

In 2012 the butter cow, wearing a party hat was joined by a giant cake, celebrating the 200th birthday of the state capital. Other past sculptures have included personalities like Jack Hanna, Jack Nicklaus, Dave Thomas and John Glenn.

Each year the display attracts more than 500,000 visitors. The butter cow represents more than 268,000 real dairy cows across the State of Ohio.

The Dairy Products building is open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. and offers a variety of dairy foods, produced in Ohio, including ice cream, milkshakes, cheese sandwiches and milk.

The butter cow is also running her own social media campaign. She’ll take over twitter updates and Facebook posts starting Tuesday until the end of the fair for the Ohio Dairy Farmers.

The Ohio State Fair runs from July 24 until August 4 at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus.
