Dancing with the Divas local celebrity competition is more than a week away but one dancing duo hosted an additional fund-raising event to raise even more money for their charity.

Dancing partners, Kevin Knapp and Debbie Grubb, are one of the eight pairs of dancers and they have selected Big Brothers Big Sisters as their local charity to raise money for at the Dancing with the Divas contest as well as a smaller fund-raising event this evening at Eaglesticks Golf Club.

"There are several goals,” said Grubb. “We are going to have our big fundraiser the night of the big event so that will promote all of the charities but what we are trying to do, we are trying to boost the budget for Big Brothers Big Sisters by having our event tonight."

Knapp says it was a no brainer to participate when he was asked by the divas to dance in the competition as well as which charity to help.

"It’s a good local community organization within the community,” said Knapp. “They are nation wide, they help out a lot of kids that really just use a little extra support and they are everywhere you go so it seemed like a good fit for me and they asked me to be a part of it and I was all about it."

As for Knapp’s dancing skills? Grubb says the training is going great because Knapp has great rhythm, memory and personality to put on a great show. Dancing with the Divas takes place July 27th at Eaglesticks Golf Club.
