Pottery lovers from all over migrate to Zanesville for one week to buy, sell and learn about the fine art of ceramics.

Southeastern Ohio is considered the mecca due to the rich clay in this area and since the sixties people come to see local artists work.

"Many of the people that come here, the pottery lovers, have been coming since the sixties, so they are people who are very seasoned, very knowledgeable and the whole purpose of the group is really to share,” said Vice President of Pottery Lovers Group, Patti Bourgeois. “So we are here to educate as many people who want to learn about pottery."

The Pottery Lovers group stays at the Holiday Inn Express, off Underwood, for the entire week and use the entire building for show rooms, and to sleep.

"Almost all of the rooms, have a clock on their doors, if they go to dinner they will have a time they will return but we are open pretty much from 8 or 9 in the morning, all the way until 10 or 11 at night. Most of the rooms will be open for the better part of the day, just leave to go and have a meal. We actually frequent all of the restaurants in town we try to bring as much business to town as we can because we appreciate it. "

There are more than one thousand pieces of pottery and Wednesday at 6:30 is the Show and Tell night, which is a mixer theme party, that feature private collections. This years theme: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
