Despite afternoon and evening storms, The Stars and Stripes on the River festivities continued on as promised.

The patriotic event, hosted by the Zanesville Jaycee’s, was prepared for any weather event, with tents for food vendors and the entertainment.

"We are a band out of Nashville Tennessee Les Richardson, Lesrichardson.com,” said performer, Les Richardson. ”We do a lot of stuff here in Zanesville, The Smiling Goat, and festivals around town and we are starting to come here a little bit more often. We do country music, little bit of rock and roll, some original stuff. Try to have a good time. "

Festivities continue tomorrow on Independence Day, once again, regardless of what Mother Nature provides.

"Yep, tomorrow we will be here rain or shine as well,” said President of the Zanesville Jaycee’s. “We are going to kick things off at 2 o’clock with ‘To The Left’. Opening ceremonies are at 6, followed by Carson Drive until 9:45, when the fireworks start and we also have a bike give away tomorrow. Registration starting at 1 o clock."

The entertainment will be able to continue as long as it doesn’t lightning, because it will be under the tent at Zane Landing Park. If the weather is too inclement to set off fireworks, a rain date will be decided. All proceeds from Stars and Stripes benefit Jaycee’s as well as seven other non profit local organizations.
