The finalists are in for the Texaco Country Showdown taking place in August.
From the 40 entries received it’s now down to just twelve who will take the stage at Secrest Auditorium next month.
"We’ve been in contact the last couple of weeks since they’ve been picked and they’ve come in and we’ve had a photo/bio day with them and kind of explained the rundown of the show," said Event Organizer Sara Shallcross. "In the coming weeks we’ll be going through a rehearsal and getting them ready."
They’ll need a lot of fans to cheer them on as some have never participated in a contest quite like this. Tickets for the concert are $11 with some of the proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
"The people in the show are very excited about this opportunity for them and it’s going to allow you to keep things local and cheer on local talent," said Shallcross. "You see the shows on TV like the Voice and American Idol and we’re just bringing that here to home and it’s nice to see your friends, neighbors and family up on stage."
The winner of the Texaco Showdown will compete in the state finals at the Washington County Fair on September 2. The show August 3rd takes place at 8 p.m. at Secrest Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at Secrest, Ticket Crush or etix.com
Fans at the show will get to vote for their favorite performer to see who will become the People’s Choice Winner.
