The Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation announced $8.7 million in worker’s compensation rebate checks are headed to Muskingum and Guernsey Counties.
Administrator and CEO Steve Buehrer said the rebates to private employers, local governments and schools are part of a billion dollars in rebates announced by Governor John Kasich in May.
Buehrer said in the past rebates and a number of checks have remained uncashed or ignored over concerns they weren’t legitimate.
Employers will be able to identify rebate checks by a rebate specific insert in the envelope.
The billion dollar rebate for those paying into the State Insurance Fund is part of a three part plan to bring BWC to within net asset guidelines established by its board of directors.
