The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted abduction near the city of Cambridge.
Authorities said that Tuesday around 3 p.m. they responded to the area of Claysville and Phillips Roads after a caller told officials her friends car had broken down and needed help. When the friend arrived she found the car and not the driver, and was afraid something had happened.
On the way to the scene officials got a call from the AEP substation on Glenn Highway where they reported a woman had come into their building and told them she’d been abducted and escaped.
The 25-year-old told authorities she’d run out of gas and while waiting for her friend a white male drove up next to her, had a weapon and order her into his vehicle.
She told law enforcement that she attempted kicking the man, causing him to slow down, where she was able to escape into a wooded area.
The man is described as being in his mid to late 40’s and was wearing a black shirt. The vehicle was described as a possible early to mid 1990’s Chevrolet Pick up truck and was dark blue in color.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 439-4455.
