Saturday in Cambridge, the community came out to an open house for a regional cancer center.
Members of Southeastern Med provided food and drinks for people to enjoy while participating in group tours of the renovated facility. Visitors also got a chance to use interactive educational tools while they were at the event.
"We have the colon, which is the blow up three dimensional piece that we do walk through. We tell folks about the prevention needed to detect early colon cancer, it has polyps in it, and explains the disease process," said Ambulatory Director at Southeastern Med, Ronald Cobb.
Visitors got a chance to talk with the two board certified doctors that will be on staff at the center and were able to see the new additions that Southeastern Med made since purchasing the building.
" We acquired the building about a year ago, and started working on renovations to bring it up to really a standard oncology, radiation , medical oncology, hematology, oncology center that would be self standing and serve the community with everyone of its needs," said Cobb.
The center was created to service a larger area including Guernsey, Noble and Monroe counties so that people have a option that is closer to home for cancer treatment.
