Center For Seniors Of Muskingum County Needs Donations

Last month, the Center for Seniors served just over 600 meals, up 43% from last year. With such a large increase, they need donations from the community to keep the pantry open.

"We ask that people do bring things that are current in date," said Debrah Smith, Supportive Services Director for the Center for Seniors. "If they would also like to make a financial donation, I can buy foods at the Mid Ohio Foodbank for a very inexpensive price. I can get about 10 times more the food there than I can if purchased regularly."

The center serves the elderly of Muskingum County by providing meals, transportation, dance classes and other activities.

"If we don’t get enough donations, what we have to do is we just have to cut back on the number of items that we’re able to put in a box for a 3 day supply. We’re supposed to serve a three day supply of meals and we just have to cut that back."

You can donate by dropping off non-perishable food or financial donations at the Center for Seniors, which is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sunrise Center.
