Volunteers helped set up for an annual event that gives school supplies away to area kindergartners.
This is the sixth year for Muskingum Families and Children First Kindergarten Back Pack and School Supplies Event. All of the supplies were donated by different agencies in the community and volunteers helped prepare for the big day on Saturday.
"The volunteers are actually from the Zanesville High School soccer team, they have been a huge help because as we put this together it was really only two or three of us doing this and without those 20 kids this would take all day, " said Kinship Coordinator, Patrick Donavan.
At the event, different schools and agencies from around the area will have booths set up for the kids to stop and pick up supplies. Once they are done they will have a variety of entertainment.
"The kindergartners love it. We have the mascots here, we have the cheerleaders here, and the cheerleaders cheer them on as the come into the room. It’s a lot of fun," said Muskingum Families and Children First Employee, Thasia Schilling.
Schilling says that they are prepared to help more than 1,000 kindergartners and she hopes you can make it out to the OUZ Campus Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
A special thanks to all those who made this event possible through donations.
