Once a year the Zanesville Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce and the Junior Chamber, or the Jaycee’s, partner up to raise money for local projects through a friendly but competitive round of golf.
The annual golf outing at Jaycee’s Public Golf Course attracts large and small businesses alike for the 18 hole tournament.
"We have a great turn out today,” said Chamber of Commerce President, Tom Poorman. “We have 32 teams, so we really have a lot of people, a lot of business people out here and it’s great to see them turn out once a year and support this cause."
Each team of four players, paid to enter the competition, which typically raises around four thousand dollars to be deposited right back into the community.
"The Jaycee’s do a wide variety of community projects from, Stars and Stripes on the River, to youth programs and we also, as a Chamber of Commerce, put money back in to small business development, economic development those kinds of activities."
After the golfers finish playing the course, they will enjoy a cook out, while the teams who finish first, second or third place will receive a cash prize.
