Getting Ready For The November Election

Monday was the deadline to get in all petitions for the November 5 election.

"We will have the candidates in the city. There will be several out in the townships," said Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections, Chris Hamill. "The trustees, villages, school boards, tax levies and also local liquor options."

Hamill says there were 131 candidate petitions, 17 tax levies and four local options filed. She says the board met last night to certify the petitions, but there were some errors.

"We did have some that were not certified. Those ones that were not certified at the ballot will receive a certified letter in the mail, certifying why they were not certified to the ballot."

The petitions that had errors will have to wait until the next election to be considered.
