Hundreds of kids participated in the Junior Fair Shows early Tuesday morning. This is Carlie McCabe’s 10th year showing both sheep and cattle at the fair. The sheep and steer were judged on their overall look, how smooth their bodies are and if the front end lines up with the back end of the animal.

"For instance, my steer this year, he’s got this awesome front end and no butt," said McCabe. "So we’re probably gonna get docked a good bit for that. So you just want a nice strait line. No hunch or dip in the back and I like big butts."

This is 10-year-old Allison Tom’s first year showing at the fair and she won first place in her age division. She says she’s been working all year to get her 4-month-old dairy hefer named Dixie ready for the show.

"Just work with her a lot and walk backwards and forwards with her a lot" said Tom.

The fair is open until 11 until Saturday.
