The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office received to a call at 1:21 p.m. Monday afternoon about an 18-year-old male trapped in a ditch after it collapsed on McGlade School Road in Dresden.

"He’s trapped up to approximately his waist between the dirt and the outside wall of the basement of the house," said EMA Deputy Director, Jeff Jadwin.

Emergency crews spent over two hours working to free the man. Jadwin says at 3:50 p.m. this afternoon, crews were able to extricate the man, who stayed conscious the entire time with the help of 6 different fire departments. Also on scene was the Muskingum County Urban Search and Rescue truck (USAR) and crews using vacuum trucks to help free the man.

"First to arrive on scene was Enviro-Flow, then Zembra Bros. and then two from the City of Zanesville. We had a backhoe here on scene from the Village of Dresden incase they needed to do heavier work."

The victim was taken by Medflight to OSU Medical Center in Columbus. His name and condition are unknown at this time.
