The first sale discussed was 3.3 acres near the airport which is to be sold to Big R Trucking and the second will be sold to City Tire.
"We received a donation of about 6.1 acres from the county. It’s excess land near the sheriff’s office and juvenile detention facility and we’ll sell that to KFJ Enterprises," explained Executive Director of ZMCPA, Mike Jacoby.
Jacoby also gave an update on the status of the port authority’s finances, saying they are in pretty good shape. Another hot topic was the rail project. Part of the rail construction project was damaged by storms in late July and clean up needs to be done.
"We’re gonna have to pay somebody. We haven’t resolved exactly who’s dime it’s going to be on but we’re gonna have to dredge out some rock and some soil that was washed by a heavy rain into the wetland and we’re doing this at the suggestion of the EPA before we get into any trouble with them."
The Port Authority ended its meeting by taking a bus tour to the Eastpointe industrial park.
