The ‘Send Your Boss to Camp’ fundraiser starts Friday outside of the Boy Scouts on McIntire Avenue. It’s a new fundraiser for the Muskingum Valley Boys Scouts and they plan on using the money to help off-set the cost of camp.
"The idea is that employees of various businesses have collected pledges to raise money to support scouting really but if they raise enough money, they send their boss out and he’s got to camp for one night, tomorrow night," said Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Boy Scouts, Ed Mulholland.
This is the first year for the fundraiser. The 12 bosses from area businesses like Honeybaked Ham, Huntington Bank, Colony Square Mall and Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton, will camp in tents, build fires, learn archery and more.
"They’re gonna have a lot of fun. We have a Boy Scout troop that will be camped out here and they’re gonna do a Dutch oven feast. We’re gonna have some, ‘are you tougher than a Boy Scout’ challenges like fire building that the bosses are gonna have to participate in. And then we’re gonna close it with a big camp fire."
Mulholland says they’re hoping to raise anywhere from $2,500-$5,000.
