Community members came to Northside Oxygen and Medical Equipment in Zanesville to get wheelchairs cleaned for free on Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wheelchair owners and their families brought in chairs to be serviced by the warehouse technician on location.
"We spray them down outside, and then we bring them in, put them in the wheelchair washer, and then after they come out of there we go over and check them for anything that might have any defects," said Warehouse Tech, Butch Miller.
Along with the cleaning, customers received an assortment of refreshments, door prizes and a chance to win larger gifts including, a ramp and seat cushion for their chairs. Miller says he enjoys helping people do things that they might not be able to do for themselves.
"It’s good to know that people can bring them in here get them dropped off, cleaned, serviced and have a good wheel chair, safe wheelchair, " said Miller.
If you missed the wash, you can still visit the customer service desk at Northside to set up an appointment to get your wheelchair washed and checked free of charge. This was the fifth year for the annual Wheelchair Wash.
