The Zanesville Community Theatre just closed its 50th season and on Friday, Mayor Jeff Tilton recognized the theatre by signing a proclamation for the thesp organization.
"We started in 1963 by a small group of folks who wanted to bring quality community theater to the area," said ZCT President, Jillian Von Gunten. "And we’ve been in continuous operation since then."
The Zanesville Community Theater is a family tradition for Von Gunten. With her parents being members while she was growing up, she’s been a part of the ZCT family her entire life. Theater members produce all different types of performances throughout the year with something for everybody.
"We do 5-6 shows a season, a various variety of things; comedies, dramas, musicals, kids shows, just to bring consistent community theater to the area."
The theater starts their 51st season at the end of September with the musical based on the Mel Brooks movie, "Young Frankenstein." You can go to www.zct.org for more information about the theater.
