The Democratic Gubernatorial candidate for 2014 stopped in Zanesville to talk politics.

Ed Fitzgerald, who is the County Executive for Cuyahoga County and previous Mayor of Lakewood, is now setting his goals even higher, by running for Ohio Governor. Fitzgerald says he sees major flaws in the way that the state is currently being run.

"We are actually now 47th in the country, out of 50 states in terms of job creation in the last year and that’s just not acceptable," said Fitzgerald. We lost more jobs in the last month than any other state in the country except for one. "

Fitzgerald says that he would like to see improvements in education, employment and allocation of the state budget if he is elected Governor.

"The state budget that was passed in June was the biggest budget in the history of the state of Ohio," said Fitzgerald. It actually took money out of local schools and out of local communities and that has led actually to more local unemployment. "

Currently Fitzgerald has visited 82 of the 88 counties in Ohio, and says he looks forward to hearing the concerns of all Ohioans during his 14 month campaign.
