Next Wednesday, the Muskingum County Community Foundation is honoring first responders by serving them lunch at the YMCA’s Park Central.
"With it being on September 11th, when you know, so many first responders lost their lives, we wanted to sort of honor the first responders, said Alex Sherman of AmeriCorps Ohio College Guide. "Being in this community, particularly, I think that first responders are really valued, they’re a very valuable part of the community."
With the help of donations made by Muskingum County businesses, the first responders will be served a full lunch. Sherman says she plans on reaching out to high school students to help volunteer. This is the second year for the 9/11 remembrance lunch.
"Last year, they had about 100 people come out. So we’re really excited to it again this year and we’re hoping we’ll reach even more people."
The lunch is next Wednesday from 11-2 p.m.
