The Devils got out in front early, but couldn’t hold on late against Watkins Memorial Saturday. Zanesville struck first in Pataskala, with a Doug Welker goal, but the Warriors were awarded a penalty kick with nine seconds left in the half for the equalizer. Watkins’ Cole Bartimus scored one of his two second-half goals early, and Zanesville never caught up.

Jacob Fitz kept it close for the Devils with another goal, but it wasn’t enough. The loss moves Zanesville to 8-2-3 on the season, and rounds out the final Division I competition. Against those teams, the Devils were an impressive 4-2-1. Next up, Zanesville is on the road against Marietta next Tuesday.
