The Carr Center has three major fundraisers throughout the year. The best known one is the annual cake auction, but they also have a golf outing every fall and they’re expecting to raise about $6,000 from Friday’s event that will go towards some new programs.
"We’re bringing in some new programming this year and not only do we do early speech intervention for children, but we also are bringing a reading program to the center," said Holser. "It’s been fairly successful through the summer and we’ll continue it into the fall for children that need a little leg up on reading skills."
Hosler also said a special program for children with Aproxa is going to be made possible by funds from the golf outing, thanks to the 22 teams that participated in the outing.
"It’s a great success for us, it’s way up from last year. And we had more hole sponsors as well so ya know, we’ve been blessed with beautiful weather and everyone’s in good spirits. Bills BBQ has catered this for us and Vista has been a wonderful host to us as well."
