The Muskingum County Commissioner’s met with the President of Online Dog Licensing, a company out of Fairfield County that provides a system to counties that makes purchasing a dog license easier.

"Nowadays, a lot of people they don’t have a checkbook, they rely on their credit card or debit card so a check can be harder to come by. Also, county office’s tend to be open when people tend to be at work," said Wendy Oehlers, President of Online Dog Licensing. So being able to do that licensing whenever it’s convenient for you is a big benefit."

Online Dog Licensing currently operates in 43 of the 88 counties in Ohio and is also used in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

"It really will help with the efficiently in the auditors office. It will cut down on double-entry of their data, it will allow them to more effectively communicate with their dog owners and more appropriately communicate with them so they’re not sending out notices to people who have registered, just because they have poor data."

The commissioner’s have about a month or so to decide if they want to purchase the software.
