Important deadlines approach as we near the November Fifth general election.
Starting October 1, those wishing to vote absentee can do so from 8a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Muskingum County Board of Elections. The Director of the Board of Elections said when it comes to this ballot it’s relatively simple for voters.
"When they come in to vote they’ll just have certain candidates on the ballot," said Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill. "If they are in a township they’ll have trustees, they’ll be school board members and the Muskingum County Educational Service Center and you could have a tax levy on the ballot."
Those wishing to register to vote must do so by October 7 or you won’t be able to vote. Hamill also reminds thsoe that vote in the Licking "B" polling location will have a new place to vote this year. They’ll now vote at Bud’s Construction instead of the fire station.
"The fire department made some changes to their department,"explained Hamill. "Some renovations. They didn’t have enough room for us to be there."
Currently, the Board of Elections is scheduling training sessions for poll workers to show them how to set up the voting machines and procdures for election day.
