The winners of the Highway 103 Texaco Country Showdown, Double Cut, competed head to head with five other talented musical acts on Labor Day in Marietta.

Double Cut, beat out 11 other local acts in August, which advanced the country band to the state finals at the Washington County Fair on Monday. The state judges faced talented musicians and had to make a difficult decision of who the winner should be.

"They deliberated for a good 10-15 minutes, trying to figure out who would be the perfect winner,” said Event Coordinator, Sara Shallcross. “At the end of it, they came out of the trailer and actually gathered everybody up, they kind of held the suspense a little bit and finally the announced Double Cut was the winner."

This means Double Cut now advances onto the regional finals, where nearby state’s winning acts, will play their hearts out for a chance to make it to nationals.

"They are getting pretty close, and it think four of the guys, I talked to them for a little bit last night after they won, and it think they are just still astonished. Even watching their reactions when they called their names, it was almost like, ‘Wait a minute, they said our name?’"

Regional Finals will be on October 26th in Hershey Pennsylvania and nationals will be in Nashville Tennessee in January.
