The Falls Township Fire Department is having an open house this Saturday to celebrate the department’s long history.

"We were formed back in 1963. Prior to that year, Falls Township residents were actually protected by the City of Zanesville Fire Department, Frazeysburg Fire Department and National Trails Fire Department," said Lt. Tyler Huber. "Several of the residents came together that year and decided it was time for local protection."

Lt. Huber said there will be an extrication demonstration, MedFlight will be there and there will also be a bounce house for children. There will also be "iron pony" raffle tickets on sale with the drawing being held at 3:00 p.m.

"We have an iron pony raffle. We’re trying to raise money to raffle off a new Harley Davidson fat boy. If we do not raise enough proceeds for that, it will become a 50/50 raffle. Half the proceeds going to the winner, half the proceeds going to the department."

The open house begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 o’clock.
