Fire fighters responded to a Luck Avenue home and when they arrived, the garage was fully involved in flames. Michele Huey and her husband lost their car in the fire and $300 worth of cosmetology tools that Michele needs for work.

"Not really sure what happened. My neighbor came over frantically beating on my door at 8:20 this morning," said Huey. "I opened my door, she said, ‘your garage is on fire.’ I came running out and when I first came out, there was just a little bit of smoke and flames on this side. And I ran back in to get my husband."

Huey says by the time she got outside with her husband the garage was engulfed. Assistant Fire Chief Marty Mercer, says it took about 10 minutes for the 15-man crew to put out the fire. And because there was a missing panel where the fire is thought to have started, there’s a possibility of criminal activity.

"We’re just ruling it as a suspicious fire right now because there’s no utilities hooked up to the building and no one was in the building at the time," said Mercer.

Huey says she has had problems with people breaking into her garage in the past and has previously filed police reports about the incidents. The fire remains under investigation.
