The Animal Shelter Society of Muskingum County is a private, non-profit agency, meaning it doesn’t receive any funding from the government or tax dollar money. So whenever an animal comes into the shelter, it gets all of it’s needed vaccinations and medical care at the cost of the shelter.
"Then they all receive spay and neuter surgery so it’s hard to put a dollar figure on that but it’s easily, every adoption, the cost that we have into that is greater than the adoption fee," said Executive Director Jody Murray.
In order to help keep the Animal Shelter Society up and running, they’re having their annual fundraiser on Saturday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. at the OUZ/Zane State College Campus Center.
"You can get tickets and come to attend and for that you’ll get a nice meal. Hopefully some good social interaction with folks and then we have a live auction that night and we sent out some letters a few weeks ago to local businesses who’ve been donating items to be auctioned off that night. And we’ll have a live auction and then there will be some items that are silent auction as well."
This year’s theme is "Paws and Pigskins." Murray invites everyone to wear their favorite team’s jersey or colors to the fundraiser. And since it’s a bi-week for the Buckeyes, you won’t have to miss the game. If you have questions about tickets, you can call 740-452-1077 for more information.
