The Licking County Engineer closed a bridge in Bowling Green Township.
Engineer William Lozier said after recommendations from consultants he has closed the bridge located on Somerset Road .3 miles west of Laurel Hill Road. The structure is closed indefinitely.
Lozier said previous inspections show the bridge is in poor condition and was posted for legal road restrictions.
The most recent inspection shows the advanced section loss to the westerly piling and pile cap. The bridge can’t reopen until this problem is corrected.
The engineer has also reduced the legal load capacity on Cherry Hill Road at the Mack Hill Road intersection to five tons gross vehicle weight and reduced it to one lane of travel.
