Family, food and old school tunes filled the community center for this year’s Coming Home Reunion.

The Old 8th Ward Committee comes together every year to plan the fun filled day. The reunion has a long history in the Zanesville community.

"Most of the people have grown up in this area and are coming back and not only is this a family reunion. but a community reunion," said Chairperson, Billy Day.

The start of the Coming Home Reunion can be traced back to the mid-sixties when residents from Turner Street and the 8th Ward merged their separate reunions into one. Visitors say they always look forward to learning their history and reuniting with old friends.

"It’s really great to come back and see so many come back home because the only time you see some of the people is at the reunions, " said community member Deanna Martin.

The event was originally going to be held at Keen Street Park, but because of the humidity they decided to bring the party inside this year. Each family brought their own basket of food to enjoy while sharing past memories.
