Do you know someone who is selfless, courageous and inspires the lives of others? If so you can nominate that person to become a Hometown Hero.
The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is gearing up for their 8th annual Hometown Hero Breakfast and Ceremony and they need more nominations. There are 13 categories of heroes that will be recognized during the event.
"We also have healthcare heroes ,we have an education hero, for the teachers out in the community that are such unsung heroes, and we have community heroes for Muskingum, Perry, Morgan and Guernsey and Noble counties," said Red Cross Executive Director , Marlene Henderson.
To nominate someone for the award you can pick up an application at the Red Cross office or request the required forms through e-mail. Each year the selection committee chooses candidates with specific personality traits.
"We are looking for people that have inspired other people and maybe saved a life. Saving a life doesn’t mean you took a bullet for someone, it’s just you did something to inspire someone’s life and it was a meaningful change," said Henderson.
Nominations will be accepted until the deadline on Friday, October 4th. Selected Hometown Heroes, will be recognized on Friday, November,8th at North Terrace Church of Christ. Each hero will receive a plaque and their face on a billboard. For more information contact the local Red Cross at 740-452- 2731.
