Two New Lexington teens were seriously injured in a car crash early Saturday morning.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, around 3 am, 16 year old year Trevor Fink was driving a 2004 blue Honda Civic, southbound on State Route 345, north of the city of New Lexington, with his 17 year old passenger Amber Hermey, when he lost control of the vehicle. Authorities say he failed to negotiate a curve, crossing the center line, overcorrected, coming back to his lane and then he veered off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn and roll several times.

Both teens were transported by New Lexington EMS to Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. Trevor is currently listed as in critical condition and Amber as in stable. Both were wearing seatbelts during the crash. Police say speed and alcohol are both believed to be factors in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
