The 17th Annual Souper Bowl went off without a hitch on Sunday at the Muskingum County Center For Seniors.
Hundreds of guests lined up to sample a variety of soups, sandwiches and endless cookies for a good cause.
"We’ve had a great turnout,’ said Co-Chair, Mary Burkhart. The weather is beautiful people have been coming out and its been not just a huge rush at one time, there has just been a nice constant flow of people coming in today. "
The money raised at the lunch will go towards funding for five local service based agencies including Christ’s Table, East Side Community Ministries, the Center for Seniors, Fellowship for Christ and the Salvation Army. More than 40 sponsors and church organizations came together to provide volunteers and donations for the event.
"We have a great silent auction going on, a big half and half, and the good thing about today is there is a lot of youth groups out here today helping us serve soup so it’s a great day for everyone to get together and come together for a common cause, "said Co-Chair, Keely Warden.
Warden says that they hope to raise $ 15,000, which would be approximately $3,000 dollars for each benefiting agency.
