Children and families gearing up for Halloween can mark their calendars for Trick or Treating thanks to a resolution passed by council Tuesday evening.

The resolution was council deciding on logistics for Beggars Night also known as Trick or Treating. Children can go from house to house this year on Halloween night from 5:30 to 7 p.m, which is a bit earlier than year’s passed.

"I think it is very nice that the city looks out for safety of children, they do this before it gets dark, it’s also nice to see citizens being aware,” said President of Council, Dan Vincent. “If you are out an about during that night, you will see that people do drive slower and that’s encouraged."

Another topic that passed, was regarding AAA Spa and Pool Services that is located at 624 Brown Street near Maple Avenue. The business wanted to change the zoning of its property from residential to commercial, in order to use a plot of land as a parking lot.

"Currently they are having to park on city streets. We had council members that went out and talked to the residents and they were concerned as far as losing parking in front of their homes and so council was supportive of that tonight and did pass that legislation."

Council made it clear the motion passed because the business is required to have adequate screening of either a fence or bushes or shrubs.
