Firemen went through vigorous training at a fire school demonstration that took place at Zemba Farms Saturday.

Firemen from Dresden, New Concord and Perry Township all worked together to practice extricating people from dangerous situations.

"We’re doing some simulations with farm extrication," said Fire Instructor, Mike Bailey. What we have next is a combine that looks like the farmer was in there working on it and it fell off its blocks, so now he is pinned under."

The extensive, two day training, is provided annually in Muskingum County. The classes are required for EMS and firemen to keep their licenses and stay up to date with the proper procedures for rare situations.

"These accidents don’t happen all of the time so we have to practice this stuff that we don’t do everyday a little more often," said Bailey.

The fire fighters were encouraged to take leadership roles in performing the various tasks, but instructors were there to guide them if something went wrong.
