On Saturday Afternoon, a New York woman was injured after her car overturned, leaving her trapped at a rest stop on Interstate 70.

According to the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, shortly after 3 p.m., Lynda Weaver, 63 was traveling westbound on I-70 near mile marker 161 when she went off the right side of the road.

"She was attempting to pull into the rest area," said Sergeant, Melanie Appleman. she hit some embankments, some rocks and then overturned. She was not responsive when the officer’s first arrived. "

An air- evacuation team was called, but once Weaver was responsive, they called off the flight. She was then taken by Perry Township EMS to Good Samaritan Hospital for further evaluation.

"She was wearing a seat belt, so that’s good," said Appleman. We don’t know exactly what all of her injuries were, like I said she was unresponsive so were not sure if she maybe passed out. "

There were no other passengers in the car with Weaver. She received a citation for failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle. Perry Township Fire Department assisted on scene. The entrance to the rest stop was temporarily closed down following the accident.
