Early Saturday, law enforcement officials in Athens County acted on a tip and located an active meth lab which resulted in the arrest of two people.
According to Sheriff Patrick Kelly, the Narcotics Enforcement Team acted on information received in regards to an active meth lab located at 2725 Crabtree Road in Albany. Sheriff Kelly said the NET executed the search warrant just after midnight and arrested two adult males. Detective Jim Heater said there were two adult males, one adult female, and one child less than 2 years old at the residence during the execution of the search warrant.
There was evidence of a prior meth cook, along with all the necessary chemicals to manufacture meth located inside the residence. Deputies arrested 24-year-old Ethan Allen Pierce and 23-year-old Andrew Luke Barstow, both of Albany. Both are charged with assembly of chemicals to manufacture drugs with a child present, a felony two and were transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. Meigs County detectives assisted with the lab.
The Albany Fire Department and Athens EMS were also on scene. Athens County Children Services responded to the scene and the child was placed with a grandparent.
