Mid-East Career and Technology Centers honored several people Tuesday evening at The Advisory Committee Member Banquet, who exemplify the school’s mission.
The Advisory Committee Members work with Mid-East’s program instructors and academic team to make sure it is educating and preparing its student body as best as possible to reach success. This is Mid-East’s 11th Hall of Fame induction, adding five more people to the distinguished list.
"It was designed to recognize graduates, alumni of Mid-East, who are successful in the community and they really exemplify what Mid-East is all about,” Public Information Coordinator, Stacey Snider said.“They are successful in their employment, they are using their skills that they learned here and they are great examples of career technical education."
The five inductees Tuesday were William Daniels, Joseph Eagleson, Lori Miller, Samuel Roberts and Laura Wear. Also, new to the banquet this year, is The Friend of Mid-East Award, which recognizes someone in the community who habitually supports the school. The first honoree was Bob Mercer.
"He has been involved with Mid-East, one of our instructors was even quoted, actually in his bio tonight, saying that he has been there for 33 years and he can’t remember Bob not being involved in some way.”
Snider went on to say Mercer has always promoted Mid-East as an educational pathway and offered a lot of opportunities for Mid-East students through his work at Ohio Means Jobs.
