Two people were sent to the hospital Monday afternoon following a motorcycle accident on North River Road.

State Highway Patrol Trooper Jeff Fowler said around 3 p.m., a motorcycle traveling southbound carrying two passengers failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right side of the road, striking a guard rail. According to Trooper Fowler, the driver, 47-year-old David Thomas Jr. of Zanesville suffered a significant head injury and possible broken ribs. The passenger, 57-year-old Kevin Cain also of Zanesville received unknown injuries. Both were transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital by ambulance.

Trooper Fowler said neither were wearing helmets and Thomas was operating the motorcycle with a suspended license. He said citations are pending at this time.
