Family and friends gathered together to mourn a life taken too soon Sunday evening.
As we reported Saturday, 17-year-old Mariah Williams passed away from stage 3 brain cancer early Saturday morning. She was diagnosed earlier this year and right before her birthday on October 8th, she was moved to hospice, where loved ones celebrated her birthday with a candlelight vigil. Sunday, at Putnam Hill Park, it was a similar scene as a few weeks ago, but this time attendees were remembering Mariah and the life she lived.
"I think she would want us to be happy, not as upset as we have been,” said Mariah’s friend, Ashya Price.
Price went on to describe Mariah’s beautiful personality, saying she was upbeat, positive, down to earth and a genuine teenager. Price said she will always be remembered by her friends, classmates and family. There will be several benefits to aid Mariah’s family with extensive medical bills.
