In honor of National Disabilities Awareness Employment Month, Starlight Industries hosted a celebratory dinner.
Thursday night was the 26th Annual Muskingum Starlight Industries Transitional and Community Employment Banquet that highlights local employers that hire starlight’s adult students.
"We have several restaurants, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel, and Wendys. McDonalds, " said Community Employment Department Employee at Starlight Industries, Tim Duff.
All the Starlight employees that are hired are competitively employed, meaning that they work for the business and are being paid minimum wage or above. The banquet was a thank you to the community for its involvement in making the community employment program a success over the years.
"It’s so important because the community is really involved in this program as standpoint of businesses, our consumers, the people that we provide services to and its just a celebration," said Duff.
At the event, awards were passed out to employees and employers that exemplified outstanding achievements.
