A local chapter of a national women’s chorus performed for a large crowd at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center on Sunday.

The Friendship 7 Chapter of the Sweet Adeline’s sang and acted on stage for their annual show. This year, the theme was "Keeping Time Barbershop Style".

"We are going to travel through time from the fifties era, the forties era, and some inspirational tunes, " said Show Director, Rita Tucker.

The ladies were assisted on stage with performances by gospel singers, local high school bands and orchestras. Tucker says she enjoys the variety of the show, but she still enjoys one aspect the most.

"The singing. We sing a four part barbershop harmony, barbershop harmony is traditionally a man’s hobby, women started doing that like I said in 1945, and the tradition has continued, " said Tucker.

Next, The Sweet Adelines will start gearing up for Christmas caroling and invites the public to participate. To join the Sweet Adeline’s Chorus you must be a woman and at least 13 years old. For more information, you can drop in on one of their practices, which are every Monday at the College Drive Presbyterian church in New Concord. Practice starts at 6:30 p.m.
