A breast cancer survivor, hosted a special fundraiser Saturday Afternoon to raise money for women struggling with the disease.
Cindy Hairston created the "Mammojam" three years ago after fighting off breast cancer and realizing she wanted to help others in similar situations. Saturday’s event featured live music, a silent auction, and a chicken pot pie dinner, all to raise money to support a cause close to her heart.
"All of my proceeds will go to Doreen Agnese," said Hairston. The Breast Cancer Specialist at the OSU James Cancer Center this year, she does programs that help with women suffering with cancer. "
The money will help women purchase wigs, pay their bills, and aid with paying for treatments. The Mammojam took place at the Disabled American Veterans building on Moxahala Avenue.
