The Animal Shelter Society of Muskingum County will improve animal based programs through funds raised at their annual auction.
The organization raised more than $21,000 at this year’s auction that took place a few weeks ago, Executive Director, Jody Murray says that he was pleased with the event.
"We had a great turnout," said Murray. We had nice crowds, a lot of corporate sponsors were there, we had more items donated for the auction than we’ve had in years past so it was a great turn out.
Murray says that the shelter will use the money throughout the year to provide low cost programs to the public including a spay and neutering clinic and a variety of other services.
"We also do education programs for schools, cub scout groups, girl scout groups if they need speakers we do those, we have a cell dog program where we work with a couple of local prisons, they train the dogs and then those dogs are put up for adoption. "
To find out more information about these programs and pet adoption you can visit the shelter on December 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for their annual open house where there will be food, adoption deals and games.
