Heartbeats in Zanesville held a fundraising luncheon on Wednesday at Rolling Plains United Methodist Church to gain support from the community for their new location.
"We have an annual event where we invite people in the community to come and hear about our pregnancy center and what we’re doing and just let them have a chance to understand the work," said Heartbeats Executive Director Windy Brooks. "The center just opened September 30th, so we’re brand new and we’re just trying to build a base of community support
Brooks says she wants to get the word out to the community that the pregnancy center, which offers free and confidential services to women with an unexpected pregnancy, is open and free to anyone that needs their assistance.
"We do have the ability now to offer ultrasounds to women and we have an abstinence program that we’re taking into Zanesville schools and other schools in the Muskingum Valley. So we have a lot more resources to bring to that now together. And we have a good support, but obviously, to do more, we need to have more support."
