Hunting season is in full swing in Muskingum County and experts are sharing their knowledge.

Owner of the Dillon Falls Store, Kathy McCann says that although Thanksgiving is approaching, fall turkey hunting has been on the decline, people are opting for other prey including deer and smaller animals.

"You have pheasant, you have rabbit then the next big thing coming up will be youth gun that starts November 23rd and 24th, where the youth goes out and they can gun hunt and after that it will be for all gun season, " said McCann.

Gun season will take place December 2nd through 8th and McCann says that hunters need to make sure they have all their required licenses and adhere to new regulations when hunting deer.

"This year the new rule on that is you can buy three either sex tags and only one doe tag, the doe tags are not valid once guns season starts so if by December 2nd, if you have not used your anterless tags it’s no good, " said McCann.
