Local Charity Needs Donations

The First United Methodist Church on Putnam Avenue provides clothing for more than 4,000 families in our area and they need your help.

In recent months, the church’s Life Well Free Store has ran low on supplies and they need more donations to keep people warm during the winter months.

"I just want to remind them that we do need donations and people come in and they can’t find coats and some of our shelter people came down yesterday, that stay in the shelter, and they couldn’t find coats and shoes and boots and they just didn’t have anything," said Church Volunteer, Marilyn Moody.

The free store is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and also every third Saturday and Moody says volunteers are always willing to help people giving donations.

"Someone is here. They can help unload you and we are glad to have new clothing items, sheets and bedding, and towels, and blankets and toys and different household items, kitchen items also, but we need warm clothes right now, " said Moody.

For more information or to volunteer your time you can give the church a call by phone at 750-452-7117 or visit them in person at 857 Putnam Avenue.
